Disruptions in Ecosystem

Hello,

We have spent 3rd quarter learning about ecosystems and how energy is transferred between organisms.  We started with Chicago’s urban ecosystem and than at Yellowstone National Park.

Students have been learning about the following:

  1. -understand how organisms interact with other living and non-living parts of their environments

  2. -discuss energy roles: producers, consumers, decomposers

  3. -explain how energy & matter are transferred & recycled throughout our ecosystems

  4. -create food chains, food webs, & energy pyramids to show the movement of energy

  5. -understand relationships among organisms: competition, predation, symbiosis

  6. -abiotic and biotic factors that impact populations

Students are currently working on their summative assessment.  Please ask them about it.

As always attendance is very important.  If your child is absent for any reason please make sure they are bringing a note back when they return to excuse their absence.

All the best,

Ms. Tolpa
